hi there! I’m Kat. I’m a home cook and this is my space to share my food creations. I hope you enjoy them as much as I love creating them!
I’ve been cooking for as long as I can remember and the bulk of what I know about food is from my incredibly talented mom. She raised me and my siblings with a big focus on food; whether we were picking fresh vegetables from our own little garden patches, spending late nights around the barbecue under the stars, or beside the kitchen table munching on what seemed like an endless supply of her freshly baked bread and olive oil, she always ensured that our bellies were full of good and good-for-you food.
Mealtime was sacred; we’d help set the table by grabbing a tall stack of her beautiful ceramic plates off of the shelf which she hand crafts in her home studio, a pile of brightly colored napkins which were as vibrant as each of the meals she cooked, and a handful of vintage cutlery which she collected from second-hand shops throughout the years. We’d then stack our plates high with amazingly delicious food and she’d always be sure we had some bright herbs, edible flowers, or something else pretty to go on top.
For the past ten years, I’ve been living on my own but I’ve continued to cook my meals using her eye for beauty and taste for anything delicious. Most of what I eat these days is is centered around paleo-friendly dishes and health focused meals, but, don’t get me wrong; I absolutely still love a big night out and polishing off a big slice of pepperoni pizza or indulging in a cookie the size of my face. Life is all about balance, hey?
I’m currently living in beautiful Vancouver, BC with my husband and a home full of our plant babies. When I’m not in the kitchen, I work at an education tech startup in Vancouver called Thinkific.
